WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - New preliminary numbers are out on the state's requirements that put a hard cap on class sizes from kindergarten through high school.
Right now, 20 percent of the district's classes are out of compliance.
Districts that do not abide by the standards will be forced to pay a fine of $15.1 million even it it's just one student over. However, if the district submits a plan for meeting the requirements by 2012, it will only have to pay a quarter of that which amounts to $3.8 million.
If Amendment 8 passes in November, the rules could be relaxed.
