Beauty secrets from your fridge

(WFLX) - It's a $24 billion a-year industry. From facials to hair care, Americans love to spend their money on their looks.

But does the road to flawless skin and hair have to mean forking out hundreds of dollars?

According to one beauty expert to the stars, looking your best may be as easy as opening the fridge.

"One of my best clients is Prince, Ellen DeGeneras," said Narine Nikogosian. She says you don't have to have a celebrity bank account to look like a million bucks. "Just open your fridge and just have fun. Cook for yourself, and your skin."

DIY: Toner for Oily Skin
  • Ingredients: Cucumber, fresh mint, vodka and mineral water.
  • Directions: First blend peeled cucumber and mint in a food processor, and then add one cup of sparkling water and one cup of vodka. Apply using a cotton ball and rinse.
  • Beauty expert says: "Just wipe your skin very gently. It smells like a mojito, and you can even drink it!"
DIY: Lighten dark circles under your eyes
  • Ingredients: Avocado and Vitamin E.
  • Directions: Mix ingredients, pat under eyes and wipe off after 15 minutes.
  • Beauty expert says: "It's really good for fine lines and wrinkles."

DIY: Fix fine lines
  • Ingredient: Cottage
  • Directions: Simply apply

DIY: Bubbly Rasilicious Face Mask
  • Ingredients: 15 raspberries, 3 tablespoons milk, 1 teaspoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon sparkling mineral water
  • Directions: In a small bowl, mash the raspberries, add the milk, and then the olive oil. Mix well, then add the sparkling water and mix well again. Apply a thin layer of this to your face and relax for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water, and then apply your moisturizer.
