Woman loses 120 pounds by hitting gym, drinking Celsius

DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - You exercise, and you eat right. But you just can't seem to get the pounds off. Well, a South Florida company may have the answer.

A Delray Beach couple has created an energy drink that, they say, burns calories and boosts your metabolism.

Two years ago, Katherine Schull could barely walk. "I was 28-years-old, and I was about 300 pounds, 298 to be exact," she said.

But her wake up call came on New Year's Eve. "I spent a lot of money on a dress [size 26] that I thought made me look good, and it didn't," she said.

So, she got a trainer, hit the gym, and started drinking Celsius. It's an energy drink created by a South Florida couple that claims to boost your metabolism and burn calories.

Katherine is sensitive to most energy drinks, but not this one. "It didn't make me feel like I was crawling out of my skin. It made me feel like I could do five more minutes or 10 more pushups."

Janice Haley, Celsius Co-Founder, said, "What we wanted to do is create a drink that would give you energy like this -- longer and more gentle."

Celsius does have caffeine in it, but no carbs or sugar. Haley calls it clean, and she says seven clinical studies prove it does what it says.

The owner of Synergy Systems in Delray believes in the science behind Celsius so much he gives it to all of his clients. "They burn twice as many calories," said Skip Guarnier, Synergy Systems. "Clients are motivated."

For Katherine, losing 120 pounds is motivation enough. She's got about 25 pounds to go. We have no doubt she'll get there.

You can buy Celsius at most grocery stores, WalMart and Walgreens. It sells for about $2 a can.
