VERO BEACH, FL (WFLX) - It's a first of its kind creation: a "talking" Rosary.
Dubbed the Freedom Rosary, it's a local couple's dream come true. They've been tinkering with the design for seven years and have spent about $400,000 perfecting it. Now they hope to sell them at about $60 each, with the net profits going to charity.
The Rosary is a traditional Catholic set of prayers teaching the faithful about the life of Jesus Christ.
The couple says getting the project completed wasn't easy. People from several faiths worked on developing the device.
"No absolutely not easy at all," said Rae Delvecchio. "There's microchip and digital technology in the crucifix itself. We have a lithium battery."
They say all the proceeds from their talking rosary will go to charities working to stop human trafficking.
