Lake Worth homeowner ran over by burglar

LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - A Lake Worth man is hospitalized after being run over by someone trying to burglarize his garage. It happened not from Lantana Road in Lake Worth.

Deputies still on the hunt for the man who, they say, stole items from this garage and then ran over the homeowner. Now, they need your help.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputies say around 11 a.m. Monday someone known to the people who live on Jarrand Way stole some items out of the garage.

Friends tell us 30-year-old Evan Nielsen tried to stop the guy by attempting to jump inside the driver's car. Another woman also jumped on the hood. Nielsen was run over.

The driver, in a light blue Nissan Murano, then took off. Nielsen was flown to Delray Medical Center. He has broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a fractured leg.

His friends say this should have never happened, and they hope the driver is caught. "I think they need to be caught, and, I think, they need to man up," said the victim's roommate. "We have an idea of the car. I wish they would make it easy and turn themselves in."
