Police looking for Pahokee murder suspect

PAHOKEE, Fla. -- Police are looking for a man wanted on first-degree murder and attempted murder charges following a 2:45 AM Saturday shooting outside a Pahokee nightclub.

Deputies responded to the shooting at Club Coco, 691 E. Main St., and found a total of six victims shot. One of the victims was deceased on scene and the other five were transported to area hospitals. Gang Task Force detectives adopted the investigation and after a thorough canvass and eyewitness accounts established probable cause for the arrest of Tavares Akeem Lawler, aka "Khemo," 26. Lawler is approximately 5'8", weighs 160 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. His last know address is 245 Shine Drive, Pahokee.

The charges Lawler faces are one count of first-degree murder with a firearm, seven counts of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle and one count of discharging a firearm in public.

Police say Lawler shoudl be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Police identified the deceased victim as Paul Buxton Jr., 21, of Parkview Court in Pahokee. The other victims are range in age from 14 to 31 and live in Pahokee, Mangonia Park, South Bay and Belle Glade.
