Structural, stucco issues at Delray complex

DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Neighbors at the Verano at Delray are concerned about holes in the stucco they've seen on some of the balconies in their complex. Pieces of stucco are missing -- exposing the wood frame beneath.

A source sent us a notice that supposedly has gone out to at least one building at Verano at Delray. The notice tells residents an engineer has been retained to inspect some areas of the buildings in the complex. The notice also says during a rehab project, crews uncovered structural issues in building columns more severe than expected.

The notice tells residents not to use their balcony other than for storage of light items and remove all furniture. That notice, supposedly, to just one building so far.

We spoke with a renter at the complex, who said, he did not receive the notice. He said his balcony was remodeled in the past couple months. "I'm not too worried. Hopefully, if the engineers are looking at it, I guess that has me a little bit worried. But we haven't noticed any problems yet. So, hopefully, we'll keep our fingers crossed, there are none."

A board member declined comment. He said the management representative would be in the office Monday.
