Airline passengers deal with long delays

NEW YORK (CNN) – Travelers At LaGuardia Airport in New York are finding it difficult to travel after the holidays after some 4,000 flights have been canceled.

Travelers waited in line, with luggage and frayed nerves, after blizzard conditions blanketed much of the region. Some travelers slept on cots, atop luggage carousels and on the airport floors.

Things are slowly moving there, but there is a long way to go.

"In a storm like this, when [schedules] have been disrupted, there are multiple delays, diversions, sometimes the airlines get aircraft and air crews in the wrong city," LaGuardia General Manager Thomas Bosco said. "Until they can get them back in the right city, they won't have a normal operation."

Airport officials say it could take a few more days for a full recovery. By noon at LaGuardia, there were about 100 arrivals and departures. On a normal day there are about 70 per hour.
