Former Delray principal charged with stealing from school

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A former Palm Beach County elementary school principal has been charged with stealing furniture and other items from her school.

Authorities say 49-year-old Priscilla Maloney surrendered Tuesday and faces multiple theft and misconduct charges.

Prosecutors say Maloney stole about $14,000 in furniture, as well as a saxophone, a projector and a laptop from Plumosa Elementary School last year.

Authorities say she let another district employee take furniture for her private business, but Maloney told investigators in September that she thought the furniture was going to another school. The other employee has not been charged.

The items were reported missing by an anonymous caller in August, when the school was moving to a new building.

Maloney was reassigned in September.
