Several Dogs Attacked in Jupiter

JUPITER, FL (WFLX) Daisy has joined a club that no dog owner wants any part of.

"It picked her up, it broke her rib and made several punctures. Then it dropped her picked her up a second time," Celeste DeSalva, Daisy's owner said.

Daisy is one of at least four dogs now who has been attacked at the Egret Landing and Abacoa developments in just the last six month

DeSalva said it was a coyote. Dave Hitzig of Jupiter's Busch Wildlife Sanctuary said it's common for the owners of attacked dogs to blame coyotes, like the one rescued from a nearby canal.

Although he hasn't examined Daisy or spoken to DeSalvo, he said the attacks at Abacoa and Egret landing sounds like the work of a wild dog. He said people often let them into the wild because they have a hard time taking care of them. Hearing nightmare stories like Daisy's should make them stop.

But Dave's words do little to comfort Celeste DeSalvo.
