Local Company Helping Heal After Tucson Tragedy

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (WFLX) A Deerfield Beach publishing company is stepping in to help the healing after the tragic shooting in Tucson.

Nine year-old Christina Taylor Green was killed in the rampage that injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords last Saturday.

Green was killed in Tuscon, but born on September 11 , 2001. She represented Maryland in Faces of Hope, a book the Deerfield Publisher first printed in 2002 showing babies born on 9/11.

When others around the country realized the against-almost-all-odds coincidence, orders for the book came pouring in. 8,000 copies were printed in the first run in 2002. In the last two days, over 12,000 copies have been printed.

Publisher Peter Vegso suspects people are buying the book because they want to feel closer to the hope that Christina Taylor and other children represent for a wounded nation.
