Riviera Beach Marina Redevelopment Goes Back On The Ballot

RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) The city of Riviera Beach will once again have to decide if they want to lease part of the marina to a developer. The council voted to repeal the November referendum where voters said no to Rybovich taking over 40-percent of the marina to build a mega-yacht facility.

The council said many of those who voted later came back and said they were confused by the question on the November ballot.

In the ordinance the council said they held two public meetings to receive staff and public comment on what the intent of that November amendment really was and the overall use of the marina.

From there, the council determined it was in the best interest of the citizens to submit the question again but in two parts.

One question will ask if the language in the November ballot should be repealed.

The second question which is non-binding will ask citizens if they support leasing a portion of the city marina for use as a facility for the repair and service of vessels.

Many who spoke Wednesday during public comment said they do not agree with the second question being non-binding.

The council said they are simply trying to understand what the voters really want.
