BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - We were excited to see Boca Raton native Brett Lowenstern sing his heart out on American Idol.
He got a gold ticket for his performance and is headed to Hollywood. But the 16-year-old Spanish River Community High School student made us especially proud when he talked about his childhood -- growing up being picked on and bullied for just being himself.
In the show Thursday night, he said, he learned something through all of that. "I want to give a message to kids and bullies. Be yourself because there's only one life to live. You should just be happy with yourself no matter what," said Lowenstein.
Brett - your hometown is proud of you. Good luck in Hollywood!
