Piece of 9/11 History In Palm Beach County

WELLINGTON, FL (WFLX) A tribute of pride and patriotism at the groundbreaking ceremony for Wellington's new patriot memorial.

Residents also had the opportunity to see the 58-foot by 30-foot patriot flag.

The flag is on a 50-week, 50 state tour that will end on September 11th, 2011.

A steel column from the World Trade Center that is now on display at the South Florida Fair, will be the focal point of Wellington's Patriot Memorial

"Its a great day for the village of wellington, for the south Florida fair, for palm beach county, said Village of Wellington Vice Mayor Matt Willhite. "But for all Americans because this is a great thing we're trying to memorialize and remember the victims that we lost that day."

In addition to the steel beam, the fair's 9/11 exhibit also features a video message from former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, pictures from the steel's journey to Palm Beach County and a rendering of Wellington's future Patriot Memorial.
