Former 'Chips' Star Sentenced

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (WFLX)  A former TV cop dodges a bullet.

63-year-old Larry Wilcox, who played "Baker" on the show "Chips" was sentenced to three years probation and 500 hours community service, on a securities fraud conviction.

He was facing a maximum of five years in prison.

"Everybody is extremely happy, his entire family is happy and we're gratified the judge rightfully took into consideration a lifetime of service to the community beginning as a cub scout and going forward," said Wilcox's attorney, Bill Richey. "As I've said in my many years of representation I've never represented anyone that's spent so much time serving and helping their fellow man."

Wilcox was caught in an FBI sting, offering to pay kickbacks to pension-fund managers or stockbrokers for using clients' funds to buy penny stocks.
