Man Facing Charges In Crash That Killed 11 Year Old

A Treasure Coast man is facing ten counts in a crash that killed an 11-year old girl.

Her family tonight, said they've been waiting for an arrest in the September crash.

According to troopers, Michael Opsincs was speeding and under the influence of oxycodone and another drugs when he ran a red light.

Opsincs plowed into Todd Cooper's car at the intersection of Pomeroy Street and Kanner Highway, cutting it in half.

11-year old Brianna Cooper died at the hospital, her younger siblings were are all injured in the crash.

The Coopers said they're glad Opsincs is finally in jail. "I'm extremely relieved.  I've been waiting for this. I think I've called Todd on a daily basis, 'Did you call, have you heard anything?' So, I'm just very relieved that justice is on its way to being served."

The family is working to set up a foundation in Brianna's memory.

Opsincs is charged with vehicular homicide, DUI manslaughter and eight other counts.
