Suspected thief leaves name, number behind for police

TEMECULA, CA (FOX) - A suspected thief in California will not be earning any intelligence honors anytime soon.

Police say it was easy to track down Jeffrey Yancey after he allegedly stole tires from a store. That's because security cameras captured his name and cell phone number printed on the side of the van he used during the burglary.

"He denied everything, so, I don't know how you can deny it when you're on video but he did deny it," said Rich Richardson, the tire shop's owner.

Police say they called the number and met with Yancey and found the stolen tires in his home.
