Woman locked up after hitting boyfriend with dustpan

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - An alleged dustup involving a dustpan landed a local woman in St. Lucie County lockup, according to a recently released police report.

The 29-year-old victim told Port St. Lucie police last Friday that his live-in girlfriend, Yvonne Chevette Bonnell, hit him in the head with a dustpan after they argued.

He said Bonnell, 26, pushed him in the chest, and investigators saw redness on his left ear and chest area. Further, the boyfriend said Bonnell has "victimized" him in the past.

Meanwhile, Bonnell denied hitting her boyfriend, saying the argument was verbal and involved him "sleeping with another woman," the report states.

Police noticed a dustpan, a cleaning instrument often used in conjunction with a broom or brush, in a corner of the kitchen/dining room. The report doesn't indicate whether it was dusted for prints.

The incident apparently wasn't swept under the rug as police took Bonnell, of the 100 block of Northwest Curry Street in Port St. Lucie, to jail on a misdemeanor battery charge.
