Lotto ticket sold in Palm Beach: Winner comes forward

PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The mystery is over.

The person who purchased a winning lottery ticket in Palm Beach has come forward.

Johan Fourie, 62, of Hollywood, claimed the $4 million grand prize from the March 12 drawing.

The lottery department said Fourie chose the one-time, lump-sum payment. His take home was $2,306,116.00.

Publix received $15,000 for selling the winning ticket.

According to the lottery Fourie, who will celebrate his birthday later this week, has been playing the same numbers for the past 12 years.

"I was talking to my mom on the phone on Sunday morning, and she was asking when I was going to come visit her. I jokingly answered, ‘When I win the lottery,'" Fourie said. "I had no idea I would be calling her back later that day to tell her I was on my way," Fourie said in a statement provided by the lottery.
