Brush Fires Keep Firefighters Busy

STUART, FL (WFLX) Extremely dry conditions across our entire viewing area have kept firefighters very busy.

Palm Beach County firefighters are battling several brush fires.  In Martin County, firefighters are monitoring a fire that came dangerously close to homes.

Residents in one Stuart neighborhood watched as those flames moved towards nearly 40 homes Saturday afternoon.

Garden hoses were part of the first line of defense, before the fire department got on scene.

Palm Beach County fire crews were busy battling a 10-acre brushfire in Loxahatchee.

Flames threatened two mobile homes on E Road, but crews managed to fight the flames before they did any damage to those homes.  That fire burned for several hours Saturday.

No word yet on what caused the fire.

Saturday night, four brush fires burned in Palm Beach County.  Crews are gearing up for what could be a busy rest of the weekend or even week, depending on just how dry things do get out there.
