Nationwide vigils honors people of Japan

LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - Lake Worth is one of the many communities participating in nationwide vigils to stand with the people of Japan.

Monday was the 32nd anniversary of the Three Mile Island nuclear meltdown in Pennsylvania.

Now, as Japan struggles with the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters, these vigils hope to show they are not going at it alone.

"We're all human beings, and we all show compassion with each other during time of need," said vigil organizer Nick Samios.  "It's very important that we show our solidarity with them because we are all inhabitant of this plant and if something happened to us we'd like to know that they cared about us as well."

Vigils are taking place at the White House, San Francisco City Hall, and in more than 100 other communities around the United States.
