Businesses Trying To Stay About Water During Drought

OKEECHOBEE, FL (WFLX) Even with the recent rains, South Florida's water levels are still extremely low.

In fact, Lake Okeechobee is about eight inches lower than it should be for this time of year.

That's causing problems for those who enjoy the lake and make their living on it.

"A lot of folks want to come out and fish and if you can't get your boat out, you're not going to come here... and that's a sad thing," said Bud Bierlein.

Some businesses along the lake are planning special events to bring in a little more revenue.

In the meantime, most are trying to stay above water, until the rainy season arrives and Lake Okeechobee rises again.
