Pedestrian killed in West Palm Beach

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - A pedestrian was killed Friday morning in West Palm Beach.

According to city spokesman Chase Scott, a red Toyota Corolla was northbound on Haverhill Road a short time before 3 a.m.

He said the driver, Elvis J. Flete, was in the left lane when a pedestrian identified as John J. Draine walked in front of him.

Witnesses told investigators that Draine was attempting to stop vehicles on Haverhill, for reasons still not clear, before he was struck.

Flete does not face any charges.

Investigators say drivers in a white Dodge Intrepid and a Blue Oldsmobile or Lincoln left the area before police could question them.

If anyone has any information regarding these vehicles, police want you to contact Officer Secord at 561-822-1869.

Lanes on Haverhill Road are now back open.
