Lake Worth widow awarded $2.4 million in smoking lawsuit

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - An 87-year-old Lake Worth resident was awarded 55-percent of the $4.5 million she was seeking from multiple tobacco companies.

Mary Tullo lost her husband, Dominick Tullo, to lung cancer in 1998.

She believes tobacco companies were to blame for his death.

A jury found that they shared the blame awarding Tullo $2.4 million. She says she's surprised about the outcome and says her fight was not only for her kids but was also for future generations.

Philip Morris is expected to appeal the court decision.

According to the Palm Beach Post, they are paying the bulk of the damages as they make the brand that Dominick Tullo smoked.
