Man murdered in Ft. Pierce

Posted:

FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - A 35-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning outside a store and game room on Avenue D. This is the second homicide to take place near that location this year.

Fort Pierce police report finding Denard Parker, of the 2800 block of Avenue G, Fort Pierce, dead outside Wilson's Store, 1101 Avenue D. Sergeant Dennis McWilliams said police received a 911 call shortly before 3 a.m. and found Parker's body at the rear of the store property.

No arrests had been by late Sunday morning and investigators were not releasing any additional information, McWilliams said.

Parker's homicide is the fifth in Fort Pierce so far this year and the second to take place at or near Wilson's, located on the southwest corner of Avenue D and North 11th Street.

Sylvia Ann Jackson, 49, of Fort Pierce, was found shot dead about 5:30 a.m. Feb. 5 on the sidewalk on the northeast corner of the intersection. Police said her death was in connection with a fight between rival gangs that also left a 19-year-old man wounded in the leg.

Police arrested Antwon A. Wilson, 19, of the 2800 block of Avenue B, and charged him with the Feb. 5 shootings. Wilson, whose name being the same as the store's is an apparent coincidence, is being held in the St. Lucie County jail without bond, on charges that include second-degree murder and aggravated battery.

Fort Pierce Police are asking anyone with information about Sunday morning's shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-TIPS (8477) or Detective Sal Garcia at 772-468-1805, extension 5248.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information.
