"Congratulations SEALs, Mission Accomplished"

FT. PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - Ft. Pierce is where the Navy SEALs got their start. On the beaches of Hutchinson Island, the frogman trained for the invasion of Normandy. Almost 70-years later, the CIA says it was Navy SEAL Team Six who killed the world's most wanted man.

The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum on Hutchinson Island is closed Mondays but that didn't stop people from calling and stopping by after the slaying of Osama bin Laden.

Someone left flowers at the base of the memorial, underneath the names of 55 SEALs killed in action from 1990 to today.

The SEALs led the raid on bin Laden's compound in Pakistan.

A man stopped by to drop off a sign that read, "Congratulations SEALs, Mission Accomplished".

Museum Executive Director Mike Howard says all SEALs, active and retired are proud.

"I just know that SEALs, they are the force of choice really," says Howard, a retired SEAL who served in Desert Storm. "They have tremendous capability, tremendous training, maturity, aggressiveness. If I wasn't a SEAL, I'd pick them to do this kind of operation."

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday and Noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
