You Can Have A Park Named After You

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) For the right amount of money, you can have a Boynton Beach park named after you. The price tag? A cool $2 million.

This week city commissioners will review the menu for naming rights at the $2.2 million "barrier free" park being built on Congress Avenue, South of Woolbright.

If you can't afford $2 million for the park, for $500 you can have one of five bike racks named after you.

And for $100,000 your name will be placed where it is sure to be seen, the toilets.

"We don't want to leave any stone unturned so anything we can do to try to gather interest in our park and gather interest in investors we're going to do it. Cause this is about the kids. It's about the kids and getting their park," said Boynton Beach Mayor Jose Rodriguez.

The park fell to budget cuts in 2009, but the Greater Boynton Beach Foundation stepped in to fill the financial void.

The naming proceeds will go toward additional structures and features.
