Electrical fire forces residents from apartment building

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Residents of a West Palm Beach apartment building, which was evacuated Saturday night due to an electrical fire, will spend another night at an American Red Cross shelter.

According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, residents of an apartment building located on 2100 N. Australian Avenue were evacuated because of an electrical fire on Saturday night.

The fire was located in the Florida Power and Light vault which caused smoke in an elevator that had two occupants. The sprinkler system in the building put out the fire.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue ruled the fire as being electrical in nature.

The local American Red Cross says that over 50 displaced residents were evacuated and were transferred to Gaines Park Community Center in West Palm Beach.
