Boca Raton gas leak capped

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) - Palm Beach County firefighters have removed a leaky propane tank that caused almost 40 businesses in a shopping plaza to be evacuated for more than a day.

However, businesses will not reopen immediately, as safety inspections still have to be done by the county.

Firefighters spent more than 24-hours digging around the tank. It was blocked by a slab of concrete.

Ultimately, they dug around the concrete and were able to yank the 500 gallon tank out from underneath.

No one was injured from the leak, which caused a small fire on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters say they're not sure who owns the tank.

Business owners are hoping to collect from insurance companies, as some estimated losing $10,000 because they had to evacuate.
