ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The manager of a Florida business where George Zimmerman was questioned by police says Zimmerman was never hired to provide security, despite his claims to authorities. DeLand police report that two officers spotted Zimmerman and his dog parked behind Pompano Pat's, a motorcycle and gun store, early Sunday and approached him.

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after four inmates were left with little ventilation inside a prison van with no air conditioning during a 200-mile trip from Avon Park to a prison hospital and reception area in Lake Butler.

The mothers of two of the men say the guards ignored the inmates' pleas about the heat and didn't provide them water during trip on July 18.

BRECKSVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Police in a Cleveland suburb say an intoxicated man tried to suffocate his 86-year-old terminally ill father at a nursing home, and the older man later died. Fifty-eight-year-old Steven Curtis of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is facing charges including attempted murder.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) - LeBron James' Ohio hometown says more tickets are being offered for the homecoming event expected to be his first public appearance in the state since announcing his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. James is returning to Cleveland four years after leaving for the Miami Heat.
