Section 8 housing assistant director arrested for fraud

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Deputies say she defrauded the system she worked for. The assistant director for Section 8 housing in Palm Beach County is charged with swindling the public housing system.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says Kerchevella Wallace altered records and rented out a Section 8 home she didn't live in.

According arrest records, she doctored documents, got them approved for Section 8 housing, and then rented the apartment to her friends for $950 a month.

Deputies say this happened at Saddlebrook Apartments on Caribbean Boulevard in West Palm Beach.

Covering Palm Beach County, four housing employees are charged with fraud

Wallace allegedly did all this while she was living at her mother's house in Riviera Beach.

But that's not all, deputies also say, Wallace used her position to help her two sisters, Dougkindra Wallace and Teronda White, who were also arrested.

Arrest records show Dougkindra wasn't put on a Section 8 waiting list, but, instead, giving housing almost right away.

White and another woman arrested in this alleged scheme, Victoria Larkin, were also Palm Beach County Housing Authority employees.

Arrest records show they helped push through paperwork that hid Wallace's true income which may have made her not eligible for public housing in the first place.

All four women charged made her first court appearance Monday.

Wallaces bond was set at $5,000.
