Scott responds to Democrats weekend bashing

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WFLX) - Democrats spent the weekend at their annual "Jefferson Jackson Day" dinner bashing Governor Rick Scott and his policies.

They suggested Scott would be the biggest draw to motivate democrats in 2012 and beyond.

Monday morning, Scott was asked about the bashing he took. The governor told reporters he felt the next election would be about jobs and not him. "I think whoever wins in 2012 will win the same way I won. Who's got the right blueprint for job creation," he said. "I've very comfortable that the approach I'm taking: reducing the cost of government, the size of government, you know, making sure we build businesses and build jobs. That's going to be the blueprint. That's going to be the blueprint for 2012; that's going to be the winner."

Democrats say the GOP's candidate for the mayor of Jacksonville embraced Scott. The result, the first democratic mayor of the city in 20 years.
