WPB water supply could be gone in 45 days

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Tough water restrictions are now in effect for parts of Palm Beach County.

New numbers show just how dire the situation is.

The water supply for the city of West Palm Beach could be gone by next month.

The mayor confirms the city could run out of water in 45 days. That 45 day estimate includes some rainfall for the next few weeks.

A worst case scenario model -- which estimates no rainfall or inflow of water from Lake Okeechobee -- forecasts the city of West Palm Beach could run out of water by the end of June. That's why the city is drastically cutting back on how often you can water your lawn, starting Monday - just one day per week.

West Palm Beach, as well as Palm Beach and South Palm Beach, will now follow a one-day-a-week watering rule.

If you live in those areas and your address ends in an odd number, you can water your lawn on Wednesdays from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.

If your address ends in an even number, you can water on Thursdays during that same time period.
