PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The lawyers in the Casey Anthony trial are telling complicated stories.
To make their case easier for the jury to understand, Anthony's defense team has turned to a Palm Beach graphic design team. The company is called Legal GraphicWorks.
When Anthony's lawyers dropped the bombshell, that they believe Caylee died in the swimming pool, it came with this graphic of her home, showing the jury where the swimming pool is.
"When you take information in visually, you take it in faster, you can take more of it in and you retain it longer," said Tyler Benson of Legal Graphic Works.
Legal Graphic Works will make more than two dozen diagrams for Baez and his team to use in defending Anthony. But with lawyers constantly tinkering with arguments, 2AM isn't an uncommon time for the company's seven employees to be at work.
"We'll have graphics that get pushed back and forth six or seven times," said Benson. "It's not that they didn't like it. It's that their argument in the case changes direction."
The defense's dependence on a visual presentation doesn't surprise attorney and legal analyst Michelle Suskauer.
She is noticing a change in what persuades jurors who are members of a younger generation.
"They're visual learners. And if you are just speaking at them, but not showing them, you are not going to be effective in getting your case across," said Suskauer.
Yes, it's all about the diagram on the front, rather than the name on the back. But for an 18-month-old company, having this level of scrutiny on what they create is new.
"It really is an amazing feeling. And you know that it has to be right. Because you have everybody else in the world judging it as well," said Tyler.
They expect a bit of a lull in what they're making to be used in court.
But they still have eight more graphics to make that they expect will be used just before the defense rests and in closing arguments.
But we got no hints, because they've signed confidentiality agreements.
