Fire destroys several Indiantown buildings

INDIANTOWN, FL (WFLX) - A home with several additions has been destroyed in an early morning fire in the Booker Park neighborhood of Indiantown.

Martin County Fire Rescue crews were first told at 4:19 a.m. Thursday that one structure in the 14000 block of SW 170th Avenue was on fire.

But when fire personnel arrived at the scene there were five structures ablaze. Within an hour, at 5:16 a.m., fire crews were battling six fires.

Martin County Fire Rescue now says it was one home with several additions which caught fire.

As many as twenty MCFR units were called to the scene.

One family lives inside the units but  managed to safely escape.

The state Fire Marshal was notified and will assist Martin County Fire Rescue investigators to determine how the fires began.
