Behind the Scenes of 4th on Flagler

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Organizers put up the barricades to block off Banyan Boulevard to Lakeview Avenue put up ticket booths and set the stage for another 4th on Flagler in Downtown West Palm Beach.

"July 3rd is our big set up day," Organizer Mary Pinak said. "Thank goodness the weather is nice today [Monday]. We have a lot of things going on. Our food vendors are all coming in. We have a lot of our equipment coming in. This is our big day because tomorrow is our big party."

A big party, expecting to fill Flagler Drive with about 100,000 people, will have a western flare as a mini-rodeo and a carriage ride rolls into town. "Wells Fargo kids area lent itself to the wild west so I thought about west, West Palm Beach so it is an American West Palm Beach," Pinak said.

But the "3rd on Flagler" is also preparation day for businesses, like E.R. Bradley's Saloon. "We have to have enough ice," Manager Marie Schianco said. "Make sure that all the chairs are cleared out of here so people can come down here sit down have dinner and hang out and then boom, fireworks go off right in front of you."

While the dry conditions had some area shows worried about their fireworks display, Pinak said, 4th on Flagler didn't because it is located right on the water.

"And just before that on the grand building we're going to unfurl a five story American flag," Pinak said. "Our firefighters will repel down the side of the building and all of us will pledge allegiance to that giant flag and that's always very special."

A special moment for the country's special day.

The doors open at 5 p.m. and after the fireworks show at 9 p.m., headline band Hot Chelle Rae will hit the stage to close out the night
