Bacteria levels high at Phil Foster Park

RIVERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The Palm Beach County Health Department has issued a "No Swimming Advisory" for Phil Foster Park after bacterial levels in the water tested high.

Following a weekly health department sampling of beach waters at 15 locations for enterococci, two consecutive samples were returned in the poor range.

Sampling for enterococci and fecal coliform is done from Boca Raton to Jupiter and is recommended by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the EPA. The samples are laboratory tested for concentrations and are given a value ranging from poor, moderate or good.

This advisory does not include Peanut Island. Daily sampling will continue until bacteria levels return to normal.

Beach water quality for Palm Beach County and throughout the state can be found at www.doh.state.fl.us.
