Red light cameras go live in WPB

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - New red light cameras are now operating at two busy Palm Beach County intersections.

The cameras, at the intersections of Jog Road and Lantana Road, as well as at Palmetto Park Road and Powerline Road, are the first for the unincorporated parts of Palm Beach County.

The county's traffic engineer says the intersections were chosen because of their high number of accidents and the types of accidents that occur there.

For the first 60 days, if you run a red light at those locations, you'll receive a warning. After that, a $158 fine. The fine jumps to $264 if you don't pay within 30 days of receiving the ticket.

The county also plans on activating cameras at Atlantic Avenue and Jog Road, Hypoluxo Road and Military Trail, and Lake Worth Road at Military Trail.
