WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) Tropical Storm Emily has officially formed near the island of Dominica. Hurricane Hunters were able to find a center of circulation for the storm and found that wind speeds were approximately 40mph.
Tropical Storm Emily is tracking towards the west at 17 miles an hour and is expected to see some slow development to a stronger tropical storm before coming ashore on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic.
This storm is expected to weaken substantially as it tracks across Hispaniola thanks to the mountainous terrain. If this storm survives it's track across Hispaniola, it should re-form and strengthen to hurricane strength near the northwestern Bahamas on Saturday afternoon.
