Another Boynton Beach officer arrested

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) For the third time in three days a Boynton Beach police officer has been charged with official misconduct.

On Friday, The Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office charged Alex Lindsey, 28, with official misconduct.

He's accused of lying on a police report about a man he arrested on drugs and a weapon charge.

The state attorney's office said that officer Lindsey wrote that he found the firearm in the man's groin area during the arrest.

In reality, the state attorney's office says "video evidence from the booking of the suspect revealed that Officer Lindsey did not find the firearm during the arrest as he wrote in both his sworn probable cause affidavit and supplemental police report, but instead he found the firearm while in the booking area at the police department."

Earlier this week, officers Michael Mulcahy, 29, and former officer Michael Arco, 26, were also charged  with official misconduct for allegedly lying on a police report about the way they entered a motel room during a search for an armed robber suspect.

They may have violated procedures by not acquiring a search warrant first.

Chief Matt Immler says he's concerned about the image of the police department, but he says these arrests are proof that the department is good at rooting out officers suspected of wrongdoing.

He says policies and procedures do not need to be changed, and that an outside investigator isn't necessary because their own internal affairs practices are working.

The chief admits that it is likely that past cases these officers have worked on will face new scrutiny from defense attorneys.

The two cases have been pending since late last year, and it's just a matter of timing at the state attorney's office as to why they were announced this week.

The three officers have been placed on administrative duty.
