ORLANDO, FL (WFLX) - Department of Children and Families (DCF) officials confirmed in a report Friday morning that Caylee Anthony's death was the result of mother Casey Anthony's failure to protect her, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
The investigation took nearly three years and verified three allegations classified as "maltreatments," including death, failure to protect and threatened harm.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that DCF spokeswoman Carrie Hoeppner said the state agency's probe, which just recently ended, was not a criminal investigation. And while the conclusions were submitted to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, they will not result in any charges against Anthony.
According to the Orlando Sentinel , two DCF officials interviewed Anthony at the Orange County Jail on Sept. 4, 2008 as pat of an obligation to meet face-to-face with a parent who is under investigation for child abuse. DCF officials said Anthony was cool and confident, telling a state child-protection investigator that authorities would not "break her."
She was later found not guilty on charges of murdering Caylee. The jury declined to convict her of either first degree murder or manslaughter.
