UM booster claims providing prostitutes to players

MIAMI, FL (WFLX) - The investigation continues into a possible scandal involving the University of Miami sports program.

Nevin Shapiro is the UM booster who says she showered dozens of Miami players with a variety of improper gifts including cash, jewelry and prostitutes.

Shaprio is now in jail for running a Ponzi scheme, but his attorney says the gifts to players went on for at least eight years. "He opened his boat to them; he opened his back account to them. He helped them when they had problems," said Maria Elena Perez.

The University of Miami President Donna Shalala says the school is cooperating fully with investigators.

Football coach Al Golden also says his staff will answer any of the NCAA's questions.
