Police: teen poses as physician assistant

KISSIMMEE, FL (WFLX) - A Florida teen is accused of posing as a physician assistant and actually performs medical procedures on some patients.

According to police in Kissimmee, the teen has been posing as a physician's assistant at Osceola Regional Medical Center for the past two weeks.

Police say the teen worked his way into the emergency room offering assistance to doctors and actuallly removed an IV and cleaned and dressed wounds. 

The teen's his father had no clue about any of it.

"I'm embarrassed. I'm floored. I love him," said Matthew Scheidt. "Those are the best things i can say right now as a parent."

The 17-year-old does work at a physician's practice, but only as a part-time billing clerk.

Hospital management is investigating its practices to make sure this does not happen again.
