Boca woman dead, Police searching for husband

WEST BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a South Florida man after a Boca Raton woman was found dead in her home.

Bozena Kovacs's daughter found her mother lying on the floor of the master bedroom next to the bed. Deputies say she had been shot in the head. Now, they've issued an arrest warrant for 44 year old Robert Kovacs, Bozena Kovacs' husband. They hope he may know what happened to her.

Sheriff's deputies say the couple has a history of domestic violence.

Robert Kovacs was arrested in Broward County on July 30th for domestic violence. Deputies say he was under a court order not to have any contact with his wife, but neighbors think he was living at the home. They say that the couple was arguing last night. Now they hope deputies can find some answers for their neighborhood.

"We were pretty shocked," admitted Maria Lynch, who has lived in the neighborhood with her family for ten years. "Very strange, very strange. Lovely neighborhood. Not something you'd expect."

Maria had met Bozena Kovacs, but only once. "A couple of evenings ago she was walking her dog out front," she said. "That was our only interaction."

Bozena Kovacs and her family only lived at the home for three weeks. Neighbors say she, her daughter, son and elderly father were renting the home, although many said they saw Kovacs' husband.

While deputies haven't named Robert Kovacs as a suspect in Bozena Kovacs' death they want to know where he is and what he knows.

"Right now, he is a suspect for violating that contact order," said Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Eric Davis. "We still don't know if he's a victim or a part of the crime."

Meanwhile, neighbors are left with the mystery.

"To wake up in the morning to take my son to school and to come out of the garage and see all the police activity. It was an eye opener," said Tony Polks, who has lived in the neighborhood for two years.

Now they are left wondering what happened to the neighbor they never really got to know.

Police found Robert Kovacs' car in Deerfield Beach, but they still have found no sign of him.
If you have any information about what happened, call the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office or Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458 TIPS.
