US Postal workers plan rally

STUART, FL (WFLX) - Debbie Dahmer will be armed with her American flags. She's a route carrier and has 18 years under her belt working for the US Postal Service.

"United we stand. Not united we fall," said Dahmer. "I love it. There are great benefits. I don't know what I would do without it."

She's one of many across the nation who plans to rally to save America's post offices on Tuesday. The National Association of Letter Carriers is hosting the event to inform the public about the financial situation of the Postal Service and what's at stake for residents.

"With email and everything, business is down," explained Dahmer.

The group also wants to explain how it hopes to resolve the financial situation the Postal Service is facing by getting Congress to support House Bill 1351. The bill would change the way the postal service budgets for retirees health benefits.

"We want people to sign our petition to help out," said Dahmer.

She says she's worried her job could someday soon be in jeopardy, and that is something she cannot fathom.
