Bystanders help Boca officer rescue pinned child

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX) – A 6-year-old boy, trapped under a car, was rescued by Boca Raton police officers and bystanders who worked together to lift the vehicle and free the child, police said.

While getting out of his grandfather's car around 8 a.m. Wednesday at Verde Elementary School in Boca Raton, the boy tripped and fell and ended up pinned beneath an approaching vehicle.

The child was stuck under the car until Boca Raton police officers arrived.

According to the Boca Raton Police Department, Motor Officer Mike Daly, Officer Bruce Sonnenblick and Community Service Officer Ernie Bucinskas quickly worked together with bystanders to lift the car just enough to rescue the trapped child.

Officer Daly's dashboard camera recorded the drama as the scene unfolded.

The child, who was not identified, was able to stand, given a hug and transported to Delray Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
