Delray couple allegedly steals $340k from oil spill fund

DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A Delray Beach couple is accused of stealing $340,000 from a BP fund after the Deepwater oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The $20 billion Gulf Cost Claims Facility Trust Fund was set up in June 2010 to reimburse people and businesses that lost revenue after the spill in April 2010.

Joseph Harvey and Anja Karin Kannell each face multiple counts, including mail fraud, wire fraud, access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.

If convicted, they'll face between two and 20 years in prison per count.
