Grocery chain Aldi eyeing Royal Palm

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - A new, multi-million dollar distribution center is one step closer to becoming a reality.

On Tuesday, Palm Beach County commissioners gave the green light to extend tax breaks for a new 500,000 square ft. facility for the grocery chain Aldi in Royal Palm Beach.

Economic leaders say they're very close to closing the deal and bringing new business and new jobs to the area.

"Not only is it a 100 jobs, it's 280 construction jobs and a capital investment of $43 million," said Kelly Smallridge, the president and CEO of the Palm Beach County Business Development Board. "That is huge in Palm Beach County."

The company's looking to build the facility at the corner of Okeechobee Boulevard and State Road 7.

The deal could close within the next two months.
