PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (WFLX) - A 16-year-old student at William T. Dwyer High School was arrested Tuesday morning after administrators found an unloaded gun and three rounds of ammunition, according to the Palm Beach County School District.
Administrators at the Palm Beach Gardens school were tipped off by another student that the 11th grader allegedly had the weapon. When administrators confronted him, he voluntarily handed over the gun, according to a statement released by the school district.
The statement says that administrators also found three rounds of ammunition and marijuana. The student, whose name was not released because he is a juvenile, was charged with possession of an unloaded handgun and possession of marijuana and is being transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center for processing.
The school district said that school was not disrupted during the incident, and that there was no fight, threat or argument at the school involving the weapon.
