West Palm Beach inmate back in custody

SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - An inmate, who was on the run Friday morning, is back in custody after turning himself in to local law enforcement around 8:30 a.m., the Florida Department of Corrections reports.

Serving time for three convictions, Shawn E. Washington was expected to be released from the West Palm Beach Community Correctional Center on Feb. 8, 2012. He is now expected to face escape charges, which could hold a two or three year sentence, according to the FDC.

Washington, 38, was reported missing from the correctional center at 12:37 a.m. Friday. The center neighbors the South Florida Fairgrounds.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's office says Washington was supposed to return from working a waste collection job off the 700 block of Pike Road at 12:30 a.m.

At 12:37 a.m., the FDC alerted the media, classifying Washington as an escaped inmate.

FDOC also reports another inmate was captured after escaping early Friday morning in Tampa. Justin Moutinho escaped from the Tarpon Springs work release camp around 1 a.m.
